Dealing with Insecurity: Seeing Yourself the Way Jesus Sees You

Hi Visionaries, and welcome to another powerful step into the new year!

Let’s talk about something that creeps in quietly but shouts loudly: insecurity. Whether it’s about how we look, how we talk, how much we have (or don’t), or whether we’re “good enough” for what God has called us to do—insecurity tries to rob us of joy, boldness, and purpose.

But what if you could begin to see yourself the way Jesus sees you?

Insecurity Doesn’t Mean You’re Broken—It Means You’re Human

Let’s be real—even the strongest believers wrestle with self-doubt. Moses said he wasn’t eloquent. Gideon called himself the least in his family. Jeremiah said he was too young. But God didn’t agree with their assessments.

  • “Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
  • “Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)

God sees something completely different than what you see in the mirror or replay in your thoughts.

What Does Jesus See When He Looks at You?

1. He Sees His Creation, Not a Mistake

  • “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” (Psalm 139:14)
  • You were crafted with care, not thrown together in a rush.

2. He Sees the Cross, Not Your Cracks

  • Jesus doesn’t see your flaws as deal-breakers—He sees them as reasons He came.
  • “For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14)

3. He Sees Potential, Not Just Your Past

  • Jesus saw a rock in unstable Peter, a leader in persecuting Paul, and a worshiper in weeping Mary.
  • He sees what He’s placed inside you, even when you can’t yet.

How to Combat Insecurity and Walk Boldly in Christ

1. Replace Lies with Truth

Write down every insecure thought that comes to mind and match it with a verse that tells the truth.

  • Insecure thought: “I’m not qualified.”
  • Truth: “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves… but our sufficiency is of God.” (2 Corinthians 3:5)

2. Celebrate Who You Are Becoming

You may not be where you want to be yet, but you’re not who you used to be. Growth is worth celebrating.

3. Stay in Community

Isolation is insecurity’s playground. Stay close to people who remind you of your identity in Christ, not your shortcomings.

4. Affirm Yourself in God’s Words Daily

Declare: “I am chosen. I am loved. I am called. I am enough in Him.” Say it until your soul believes it.

Your Worth Was Never Meant to Be Earned—It Was Given

Insecurity loses its grip when we stop looking in the mirror and start looking into the eyes of Jesus—the One who calls us loved, seen, worthy, and His.

This year, choose to walk like someone who knows they belong to God. Let insecurity shrink in the presence of your Savior’s truth.

And remember, a visionary mind nurtures a creative spirit. Let your vision guide you, keep your mission organized, and always keep creating. Until next time, stay visionary.
