Hi Visionaries, and welcome to another powerful step into the new year!
Faith—it’s the foundation of our walk with Jesus. But what happens when life throws challenges our way, and our faith feels shaky? How do we strengthen our trust in God when things don’t go as planned? Today, we’re diving into how to strengthen your faith when life feels uncertain.
Faith Isn’t Always Easy—And That’s Okay
Let’s be honest—sometimes faith feels like walking on water, and other times it feels like barely keeping our head above it. Even the disciples, who witnessed Jesus’ miracles firsthand, struggled with doubt. When a storm arose, and their boat was battered, they panicked, crying out, “Lord, save us: we perish” (Matthew 8:25). But Jesus responded, “Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” (Matthew 8:26).
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, “God, where are You in all this?”, you’re not alone. But here’s the good news: faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does.
How to Strengthen Your Faith in Uncertain Times
1. Feed Your Faith, Not Your Fear
Whatever we focus on grows. If we constantly consume negativity, fear, and doubt, that’s what will take root in our hearts. Instead, we need to immerse ourselves in the Word:
- “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
- Read Scripture daily, even if it’s just one verse that you meditate on throughout the day.
- Listen to faith-building sermons and worship music that reminds you of God’s power.
2. Remember God’s Track Record
Think back on the times God came through for you. Did He provide when you thought there was no way? Did He heal, restore, or guide you in ways you never expected?
- “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalm 103:2).
- Keeping a prayer journal of answered prayers can remind you of His faithfulness when doubt creeps in.
3. Pray Boldly, Even When You Feel Weak
Faith isn’t about having perfect confidence all the time—it’s about bringing even our uncertainty to Jesus. The father in Mark 9:24 cried out, “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” Jesus didn’t reject him—He responded with compassion.
Don’t wait until your faith feels strong to pray—pray your way into strength.
4. Take Steps, Even If They’re Small
Faith is active, not passive. Just like Peter had to step out of the boat before walking on water (Matthew 14:29), we have to move in obedience even when we don’t see the whole picture.
- Take that step of obedience even if it feels uncertain.
- Trust that God is guiding you, even when you don’t feel it.
5. Surround Yourself with Faith-Filled People
We weren’t meant to do this walk alone. When your faith feels weak, lean on a strong community that will encourage you.
- Proverbs 27:17 reminds us: “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
- Join a Bible study, prayer group, or have accountability partners who point you back to Christ.
Faith is Built in the Waiting
The truth is, faith grows the most in uncertain seasons. When everything is stable, we don’t have to rely on God as much—but when we’re stretched, we learn to trust Him deeper.
So, if you’re facing uncertainty right now, don’t panic—press in. God is with you, strengthening your faith through every trial. Keep feeding your faith, remembering His faithfulness, praying boldly, stepping out, and staying connected to believers who uplift you.
And remember, a visionary mind nurtures a creative spirit. Let your vision guide you, keep your mission organized, and always keep creating. Until next time, stay visionary.
